An all-Brit title unification fight will have to wait with Anthony Joshua’s next fight set. Joshua is set to face Kubrat Pulev on June 20 at The Tottenham stadium. With Deontay confirming that he is exercising his rematch clause, this is the only fight that made sense.

Who is Kubrat Pulev?

Kubrat Pulev is currently (28-1) with his only loss coming via a Klitschko knockout in 2014. The Bulgarian is on an 8 match win streak and is Joshua’s mandatory IBF opponent.

There is still hope for the unification bout, however, Pulev can’t be overlooked. The Bulgarian is known for his amazing jabs and his boxing IQ. Pulev could prove to be a tougher opponent for Joshua than Andy Ruiz.

Eddie Hearn Confirms Anthony Joshua’s return

“Eddie Hearn tells The Athletic that the site deal hasn’t been signed, but that Anthony Joshua’s heavyweight championship defense vs. Kubrat Pulev will be staged June 20 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London. Joshua’s first U.K., fight since September 2018 when he beat Povetkin.”

The prospect of AJ’s return presents a great monetary benefit to both fighters. Moreover, it serves as a perfect ‘’warm-up’’ fight for Joshua. Tyson Fury will be Anthony Joshua’s toughest opponent and a bout before the ‘’Boss Fight’’ would do both fighters a world of good.
