After parting ways with Golden Boy promotions, middleweight great Canelo Alvarez has an ocean of opportunities. He has been inactive for more than a year since knocking out Sergey Kovalev and is currently hunting to stage his return against a legitimate contender.

While several names have been billed against him, the Mexican is still to confirm his opponent. Meanwhile, the fantasy matchups keep on coming as Eddy Reynoso (Canelo’s trainer) has recently projected a fight between Errol Spence Jr. and Canelo.

That said, Canelo and Errol are both world champions but hail from different weight classes. However, if they ever come under terms, Reynoso bills it as an interesting matchup.

It is no surprise that it will be alluring to see two of the best of this era go against each other. But the matchup is still not close to being sealed. It is just a fantasy-fight which has already sent the fans into a frenzy.

Canelo Alvarez vs Errol Spence Jr. – A fight for the fans

As per the ESPN ringside, Canelo’s trainer has recently shed light on the Mexican’s possible future while interacting with The Little Giant Boxing. Amongst several A-listers, Reynoso has also put WBC and IBF Welterweight champion, Errol Spence Jr. into the mix.

Touting a possible fight with Canelo, he said, “Errol Spence vs Canelo would be interesting. The only thing difficult is the weight class. Canelo is now fighting at 168 lbs.

“Spence would have to move up. It’s a fight that could be made. Spence can start to move up to 160 and Canelo (down) to 160 lbs.”

Meanwhile, Canelo hasn’t spoken much about his return. Since his tussle with DAZN and Golden boy, he has been in the headlines for all the wrong reasons.
