

Twitter has long been the social media platform of choice for celebrities and regular users alike. The ease of sharing information and relaying thoughts to the masses quickly elevated Twitter’s ranks in the Metaverse. However, Twitter’s new CEO, Elon Musk, sparked a massive outrage with rumored plans to charge verified Twitter users. And, IBF flyweight titleholder Sunny Edwards was quick to question the same.

Musk took over as the CEO of the platform by finalizing a deal worth USD 44 billion. The richest man on the planet then went on to make a slew of changes in the platform, including a massive change in the leadership.

Notably, top executives, including former CEO, Parag Agarwal, were fired. Another major change was the introduction of a subscription model for verified users. As per several rumors, the platform plans to charge USD 19.99 for a Twitter Blue subscription, which will also verify users. Moreover, users who are currently verified will have 90 days to subscribe, failing which they lose their verified status.

This move sparked an outcry from a lot of users. They mentioned that the blue tick mark was a major vehicle in combating disinformation. And has been turned into a status symbol by the subscription plan. In the same vein, Edwards also addressed his displeasure.
He mentioned that Musk should pay him for his content.
