IBF middleweight champion Caleb Plant hasn’t faced a loss inside the squared circle. However, he has seen umpteen darks days in his life outside the boxing ring.

The 28-year-old has lost his infant daughter due to illness and claims it to be the x-factor that drives his energy in a professional fight.

Boasting of a record of 20-0, Plant will defend his title against Caleb Truax on January 30. Before the fight, he connected with PBC to shed light on his dark days and revealed how his daughter inspired his in-ring achievements.

While he has helplessly seen his daughter battle with life, Caleb Plant claims to have seen more than any of his boxing contemporaries.

“I have lost more than anybody else that sees in this room. I have taken more hits and more losses than anybody that is going to step in this room.

“Just sit outside on the side and know there’s really nothing you can do to help your little girl, that’s not a good feeling. At that time, it felt like prison. You can’t escape and you can’t get away from it,” said Plant.

After dealing with such a harsh incident, Plant claims to have seen boxing as a way through. His father is a boxing trainer and family bondings have always been the primitive energy for Plant’s success.

He has also recalled daughter Alia to keep inspiring him in life.

“Alia, she had a number of issues, from brain damage to 150 and 175 seizures every day. She couldn’t sit up, she couldn’t walk, she couldn’t make noises, she couldn’t eat,” said Plant.

He added, “I have taken a lot of L’s outside the ring, that’s what kept me undefeated inside the ring.”

That said, Plant can’t afford to lose his belt at this stage. It can hamper his possible fight against Alvarez and take away his dominance from the division.

Meanwhile, Plant’s personal trauma will fuel his urge of being a boxing legend as fans continue to pour their favor for the unbeaten American. Do you think Caleb Plant will remain unbeaten this year?
