“That Was a Big-Big Move”: BKFC President Details How Jake Paul Saved Boxing [Exclusive]

Does boxing need saving? Fans and pundits have been losing their minds about it! On one hand, HBO and Showtime left the scene not too long ago. On the other, influencer boxing is raking in viewership numbers like never before. As far as influencer boxing is concerned, Jake Paul is someone who shines brighter than the others. Some would even say Jake is saving the sport of boxing! In a recent ES Exclusive interview, David Feldman revealed his reasoning behind the claim. 

The BKFC president is leading the charge to popularize Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship among the masses. His efforts have proven successful in recent years, as many MMA and boxing guys have moved to BKFC instead of boxing. However, one question remains – Why does Feldman think Jake Paul is saving the sport of boxing? More importantly, how is Jake doing that? David Feldman, speaking on ES FanCast with our Host, Noah Lack, reveals all.

During the interview, Noah Lack questioned Feldman about his thoughts on involving influencers in the boxing scene. In response, the BKFC president began by suggesting if the opponents are matched properly, there should not be an issue. He went on to shed light on Jake Paul’s role in the boxing industry. “I mean, look, Jake Paul essentially saved boxing right now, I think he is saving it. I think he is getting more people interested in what boxing is,” said Feldman.

He went on to compare Jake with Superman while complimenting his role for bringing eyes to the sport who were previously not interested in it. “Did he really save it like Superman – No. He saved it though. There’s a point where he got other people that were not necessarily interested in boxing, now are interested in boxing,” said the BKFC president.

Feldman concluded by revealing that he is trying to replicate what the ‘Problem Child’ did for boxing. “That was a big-big move that he did, and I think that’s what we are trying to do,” he revealed during the ES Exclusive interview. If Feldman’s claim wasn’t enough to validate Jake’s role in saving boxing, at the moment, he is even willing to lose money in his upcoming fight.

Jake is about to go up against 10-1-1 Andre August on December 15. While appearing in a recent interview with TMZ Sports, Jake spoke about his upcoming fight with August and revealed he is losing money from it due to low ticket sales. “This is probably just a break-even fight for me. I probably won’t even make money on it. Who knows what the outcome is,” said Paul. 

He proceeded to reveal that factoring in the travel expenses of his team; he is not making any money. According to Jake, he is moving forward with the fight because he wants to stay sharp. “It’s $200,000 for a private jet, you know, to fly around just to get the team there and back…it’s really about focusing in, staying sharp, and the experience of challenging myself in the ring,” stated Paul.
