Canelo Alvarez ranks among the greatest boxers of this generation. He is the pound-for-pound king of boxing and is showing no signs of slowing down. Many boxers across various divisions wish to contend with him at least once. But not all of them will really get a massive opportunity to take up the ring space against him.

Recently, the retro heavyweight king, Evander Holyfield, was in chat with ES News. Here, he was asked on whom he envision giving a rugged test to Canelo. ‘The Real Deal’ then asserted on Charlo brothers and felt that in the current boxing era, Jermall and Jermell Charlo are the only ones who can give the Mexican boxer a sturdy fight.

Additionally, Jermall Charlo has expressed his interest in fighting Alvarez enormous times, that too in Mexico.

However, Holyfield didn’t find this juncture impressive. He added, “That’s just a promotion piece, you know if that’s the case, they’d be fighting all the fights there. So the money is not really there, the money is really here,”

Earlier, Charlo and Alvarez fought in the same division, yet they never touched gloves with each other.

Moreover, Saul Alvarez then changed his gears and moved up to compete in the super-middleweight roster.

Citing the prevailing scenario, it seems Charlo’s wish to fight Alvarez is in jeopardy now and that of competing in Mexico seems nearly impossible.

Will Canelo Alvarez notch down to challenge Jermall Charlo?

In his last fight, the 30-year-old annihilated the Turkish boxer, Avni Yildirim, to add another thunderous win to his name.

His ultimate aim is to fight for the undisputed super-middleweight title, and for that, he has some mighty fights already aligned for 2021.

That said, it’s clear for now that Alvarez won’t move anywhere else before claiming all the 168-pound titles on the line.

A fight with Charlo can only happen once Alvarez fulfills his current wishlist. And then decides whether to transition weight classes above or below his prime super-middleweight frame.

Do you envision Alvarez and Charlo fighting in the near future?
