Teofimo Lopez vs George Kambosos Jr. was an explosive fight. Both fighters came out all guns blazing in the very first round. Lopez looked to make good on his prediction of a first-round knockout. He viciously chased Kambosos Jr. around the ring, looking for that overhand right. ‘The Takeover’ hurt Kambosos in the first round and tried to close.

As Lopez closed the distance, Kambosos caught ‘The Takeover’ with a straight right, knocking him down in the very first round. As soon as he got up, Lopez caught Kambosos again, making him stumble. ‘Ferocious’ fought the smarter fight, as he switched levels, increased his punching volume, and stayed in the center of the ring, going toe to toe with Lopez.

‘KingRy’ Ryan Garcia reacted to the fight, saying, “All that talk not enough walk.” 

With one of the hardest-hitting punchers in the division out of the way, many fighters took the opportunity to call Kambosos out for a fight. The Aussie was just a mandatory fight for Lopez, who looked to dispatch ‘Ferocious’ quickly and move on to better things.

‘Fearless’ Shakur Stevenson was one such fighter. He took to Twitter and wrote, Yo @georgekambosos Beautiful work champ u looked great.. I would love a shot at them belts if you’re down”

‘T-Rex’ Claressa Shields also had her eyes on the fight. She took to Twitter and wrote, “Teo gonna watch this fight & be pi**ed.”

In the fight, George Kambosos Jr snapped Teofimo Lopez’s 16 fight win streak. ‘The Takeover’ gravely underestimated the Aussie, who came back with a bang every time Lopez caught him. ‘Ferocious’ Kambosos just refused to quit, standing toe to toe with Lopez in the middle of the ring. The judges scored the bout in favor of Kambosos, as the MSG witnessed the crowning of a new lightweight king.
