Top Rank founder and CEO Bob Arum has been promoting boxing fights since the late 60s. He is considered to be one of the pioneers in the sport, being involved with some of boxing’s biggest fights. Arum was involved in the seminal Muhammad Ali-Joe Frazier trilogy and was the promoter who made the likes of Roberto Duran, Marvin Hagler, and Oscar De La Hoya into stars.

However, there is one thing that Arum feels is most important in the sport. He was recently asked in an interview if fans could expect any changes in Top Rank’s approach despite the introduction of new ring girls. Arum, who is 91 years old, had one of the most hilarious replies the reporter could have expected.

Bob Arum claims ring girls are the most important thing in boxing

Arum went on to state that ring girls were an essential part of the sport. Moreover, he went as far as to claim that everything else in boxing did not matter and that being with beautiful women was needed for ‘humanity’. “For me, that’s the most important thing. Everything else is bullsh*t you know. You can go quickly on the internet you’re online you tweet on Twitter and so forth but for me, a beautiful woman is a beautiful women, and that is the essential part of humanity, being on the stage with beautiful people.” he said.

Arum reveals he has no incentive to sell Top Rank

Back in 2020, it was reported that Arum was looking to sell a part of his company. However, he recently revealed that the company was doing very well and had been profitable. Moreover, he stated that a share of Top Rank will be too expensive and that he does not have any incentive to sell the promotion.

Thank God, we’re doing so well, thanks to Todd, the young staff that we have. We’ve never been as profitable as we are now. And so to buy a piece of Top Rank is very, very expensive now. And there’s no real incentive for us to sell any part of it because what are we gonna do with the money?” he said on the Boxing With Chris Mannix podcast.

Now that Arum is 91, he does need to look out for his future generation. However, he thinks that Top Rank’s value will only rise and with it being profitable selling it would not make sense.
