“You are only good as your last performance” and it is evident in the sport of boxing. Devin Haney is the undisputed lightweight champion but some fans have some serious reservations about the assertion. The 24-year-old last fought against former champion and veteran Vasiliy Lomachenko in May of this year. The bout went the distance and controversies followed after a unanimous decision victory went Haney’s win. A significant section of the boxing world felt that Lomachenko was the more dominant boxer in the bout. Meanwhile, Haney moved on from the bout and may face Shakur Stevenson next. Stevenson is the former featherweight world champion, but back in April of this year, he made his lightweight debut. Safe to say that Stevenson is wasting no time in the lightweight division as he eyes a fight against the undisputed champion.

Intriguingly, the two were sparring partners a few years ago and Stevenson made claims of getting the better of him. Haney dismissed his claim and welcomed a professional fight against his former training partner inside the boxing ring. Needless to say that the bout between the two would be a spectacle to witness and the fans are invested in the same. However, the off-court negotiations are not prolific as the two are currently engaged in a dispute over  purse split. Amidst this fiasco, fans are cutting Haney no slack and it is evident after a recent picture posted by Haney.
