‘Family Members Can be Worse Than Enemies’: Boxing Community Reacts as Young Boxer Loses His Life in a Family Dispute

The sporting world has witnessed multiple athletes losing their lives before realizing their true potential. Professional boxer Isiah Jones was one such individual. The young boxer tragically lost his life recently in a family dispute.
Jones fought in the middleweight division. Moreover, he was also the Golden Gloves winner in the year 2016. He was last seen in the ring on July 14, 2022, when he fought Andrew Murphy at the Yakama Legends Casino in Toppenish. However, he ended up losing the bout by decision.

It was reported that Jones was having an argument with his brother. This was when the 28-year-old boxer was shot in the head by the same individual. Detroit Police stated that the incident took place on Monday around 6:25 PM, at the 9300 block of Stout Street.

Talking about the incident, his trainer Roshawn Jones said, “It’s heartbreaking, that his brother allegedly did that to him. He had two kids, a boy and a girl, and he needed to support them in any way he can by not being in the streets. So he chose boxing to help him take care of his family.”
Jones also mentioned that he had also asked him to move to Toledo to train for 30 days. And, in turn, also avoid family disputes. It should also be mentioned that Jones had fought in the Canelo Alvarez vs Callum Smith undercard.
