Famous boxing trainer Abel Sanchez has had his say on Teofimo Lopez beating Vasyl Lomachenko. The prominent coach who has trained the likes of Gennady Golovkin, Lupe Aquino, Terry Norris, and Murat Gassiev spoke about it in an interview with Fight Hub TV on YouTube. He had some high praise for Lopez and spoke about the respect Lomachenko deserves.

Speaking about Teofimo Lopez, he said, “I did a couple of interviews before the fight. I think I was in Orlando when I did it on Thursday or Friday. And one comment that I made was, Teofimo is the closest that we’ve come in the last 30-35 years, to a Roberto Duran.”  This is high praise for a young fighter, from a respected coach in the boxing world.

Abel Sanchez gave his opinion on the rematch too. “But I think, in the rematch, the strategy and the game plan would be a lot different. If Lomachenko starts earlier, is he able to do what he did so convincingly in some of the later rounds? Who knows? But it wasn’t because Lomachenko grew old, it was because he had a hell of a fighter ahead of him.”
