Fans Destroy ‘Shameful’ Edgar Berlanga for Trying to Imitate Mike Tyson

On Saturday, June 11, 2022, the sport of boxing rolled back the years as the Puerto Rican boxer, Edgar Berlanga, tried to imitate the legendary Mike Tyson. In his fight against Roamer Alexis Angulo, Berlanga incited controversy as he tried to bite Angulo.

Although Berlanga defeated Angulo, the fans weren’t too happy about the outcome of the match as well as the Puerto Rican’s actions.

Fans were shocked to witness Edgar Berlanga bite Roamer Alexis Angulo

The WBO NABO middleweight champion retained his title as he beat Angulo after 10 rounds of the two boxers, going toe to toe with each other. However, the win didn’t take all the headlines as controversy arose before it. In the seventh round, Berlanga tried to bite Angulo.

Consequently, fans have come out to express their dismay. Some fans have called him “Berlanga Tyson” and shamed him for imitating the act.

In addition to that, other fans feel after this incident Berlanga should never think about being compared to the likes of a fellow Puerto Rican boxer and a boxing legend, Miguel Cotto.

Furthermore, many fans are disappointed by the result of the fight. Following an embarrassing performance by Berlanga.

Additionally, they feel that the judges have “robbed” Angulo of a title.

Additionally, fans have claimed that Berlanga won’t be able to sell any tickets as no one would be excited to see him after he got “exposed.

However, the story doesn’t end there, as Berlanga went on to make Mike Tyson remarks after the fight. He stated, “It was because he was throwing elbows. I was about to do a Mike Tyson on him. He kept throwing elbows. I didn’t want to get cut. I was ready to bite him [like] Mike Tyson,” per Fox News.

Berlanga issues an apology

Following his victory and controversy, ‘The Chosen One’ took to Twitter to apologize for his actions during the fight. He stated, “I reacted poorly and take full responsibility. Moving forward, I am going to be more mindful and encouraging in my behavior. Once again, I do apologize.”

He apologized for his comments after the fight as well. He said, “I want to apologize for my actions and what I said yesterday about the Mike Tyson bite. I was in the moment and got a little ahead of myself.”
