While boxing is often praised for its pugilistic integrity, it has also given rise to some of the wildest matchups in the annals of combat sports. In a similar situation, Cassandra Thorne, a Wrestling State Champion from West Virginia, took on Jennifer Wright, an auto mechanic from the same state.

In May 2019, Thorne and Wright went toe to toe as part of the Rough N’ Rowdy boxing event organized in Welch, West Virginia. Despite having a wrestling background, Thorne succumbed to Wright’s unnatural volley of punches. However, the same clip resurfaced on social media today.

Wright claims she has never lost a fight

Turning to X (formerly Twitter), a user by the name Fight Haven shared the clip in question with the caption reading, “Dr*g addict vs TikTok Super Model goes Horribly Wrong…” Meanwhile, in the clip, Wright can be seen absolutely demolishing Throne, which even left the commentators shocked.

After the fight had ended, and Wright was interviewed, the reporter probed Wright about her fighting experience. She confidently responded, “I have been in only two in the ring, baby. But I have been in a lot on the streets.” When pressed further about her street fights, Wright revealed, “I haven’t lost.” These bold statements and witnessing the unusual fight unfold sent fans into a frenzy.

Despite the actual fight transpiring back in 2019, as soon as the clip was shared on X, it started spreading like wildfire among the masses. One user presented an interesting analogy, albeit misguided and flawed. The user suggested Throne was chasing clout, and Wright was chasing money. Nevertheless, in reality, Throne, as mentioned before, is a state wrestling champion, and Wright is an auto mechanic.

Another person wrote, “I mean, let’s be honest. We all knew who was going to win before it even started.” Further, many people were surprised that Throne willingly fought Wright.

Someone sarcastically enquired which one was the supermodel. It’s worth mentioning that besides being a wrestling champion, Throne also boats 3.2K followers on TikTok. Hence, she was being referred to as the TikTok supermodel.

Comments like, “She was throwing punches punches”, “If a punching bag was a person” and “Who organized this” were abundant. Many social media users were scratching their heads, wondering what kind of matchup this was.

Meanwhile, another user couldn’t believe the analogy the commentator used. Comparing Wright to ‘The Hills Have Eyes’ movie? That’s brutal.

The next user humorously suggested Wright’s surprising skills came from her having no teeth. “No teeth=superpower,” they wrote.

Wright’s win over her opponent is indeed an accomplishment; something nobody had thought at the time would happen. However, there’s no denying that it was an unusual fight in the first place. What did you think about the clip?
