The Croatian born boxer Filip Hrgovic is looking at a potential title shot against unified heavyweight Anthony Joshua. The former Olympian silver medalist takes on Rydell Booker this weekend. Hrgovic will look to maintain his undefeated streak as he embarks on his journey for the heavyweight gold. Ahead of the match-up, here’s what he had to say.

“In Booker’s last fight, my opponent now went the distance against Kubrat Pulev. Now, Pulev’s going to take on Anthony Joshua, so I want to knock him out. I want to make a statement to the whole division with a knockout win.” Hrgovic said.

Booker and the current WBO mandatory challenger Kubrat Pulev shared the boxing ring back in 2019. The 39-year-old boxer is coming off a unanimous decision loss to Pulev, and needless to say, Hrgovic wants to send a statement with a stoppage win.

Kubrat Pulev will take on Anthony Joshua for the undisputed gold at the heavyweight division. Many boxing fans believe that ‘Kobrata’ has what it takes to upset the British heavyweight. He has only lost one bout in his professional career.

The sole loss came against former champion Wladimir Klitschko back in 2015. However, ‘AJ’ has a win over Klitschko in what was the heavyweight legend’s swansong.

Filip Hrgovic is not wrong when he says that a stoppage win over Booker could land him a shot at Anthony Joshua’s heavyweight strap. Booker has never been stopped inside the boxing ring. Additionally, his three losses have come against the absolute best. Hrgovic is looking to make a statement; however, it’s easier said than done.

On the other side, AJ is eyeing a potential title unification bout against Tyson Fury. However, the likelihood of that match up will depend on the outcome of his fight against Kubrat Pulev. Needless to say, the Bulgarian fighter will look to upset the British heavyweight.
