British super featherweight Aqib Fiaz is finally “cleared of any wrongdoing” by the British Board of Boxing Control. Back in June, Fiaz was involved in a controversy when his fight against Kane Baker got canceled. Promoter Eddie Hearn later revealed that he received information regarding some irregular betting activities, which led to the cancellation of the bout just hours before the schedule after discussing the matter with the Gambling Commission and the British Boxing Board of Control.
Later, Baker released a statement exonerating himself from the situation and accused Fiaz and his brother of offering bribes. According to Baker, Fiaz and his brother offered him “bribes and money” in his hotel to “take a dive.” But Team Fiaz maintained innocence and denied the bribery accusations and now that the charges are lifted, the Lancashire lad thanked everyone and is looking forward to his future.

Furthermore, the boxer also mentioned the fact that he has always maintained innocence regardless of the charges against him. During the bribery accusations by Baker, Fiaz pleaded his innocence on social media. “I always maintained that I had no involvement or knowledge of any of the allegations surrounding that fight, and the evidence I and others provided to the Board demonstrated exactly that,” said the 25-year-old. He agreed to cooperate with the investigation completely and stated that the allegations against him could harm his reputation.
