Gervonta Davis and Mexican contender Isaac Cruz are now hours away from competing for the WBA title at 135 pounds. Ahead of fight night, both fighters traded words at the recent press conference and even exchanged death stares at the final weigh-in. Floyd Mayweather was in attendance as well at the recent press conference.

In a post presser interview, boxing’s ‘Pretty Boy’ shared his thoughts on his protege’s next fight.

Floyd Mayweather talked about the Davis vs Cruz fight at length; however, he somehow managed to sneak in multiple shots at Canelo Alvarez as well. He accused him of PED abuse and ducking big fights; ‘Money’ also made it very clear that he also has a problem with Gervonta Davis wearing his old opponent’s boxing gloves.

Not only does ‘Tank’ use the ‘No Boxing No Life’ gloves for training, but he also wore them for the Mario Barrios fight. However, Floyd definitely does not want Davis to use those gloves as he believes Canelo is “rooting against” him.

What I don’t like is this and I want ya’ll to think about this. You can’t be wearing Canelo gloves and he is rooting against you. I don’t get it, I mean, I wouldn’t do it, I mean, we can wear a thousand different gloves, the result is always going to be the same, I can’t wear your gloves and you root against me,” said Floyd Mayweather.

Twitter thinks Floyd Mayweather is obsessed with Canelo Alvarez

Among talks of Davis vs Cruz, Floyd Mayweather has also been on about his 2013 opponent almost this entire week. Fans have now picked up on this and ‘Money’ Mayweather is now facing quite a lot of heat on social media.

At the same event, Mayweather recently even took shots at Canelo over PED usage and even accused him of ducking a mega super-middleweight clash with David Benavidez. Following his recent comments at the Cruz vs Davis presser, many fans took to Twitter to point out his strange behavior and near-obsession with Canelo Alvarez.
