Coronavirus has brought the sporting world to a halt. However, it still can’t stop Floyd Mayweather from training and keeping his name relevant in the business.

A new video shared through Mayweather’s Instagram Live shows him training amidst the lockdown. The video gives an insight into what combat athletes are doing to stay fit. It also gives a sneak-peek into whether or not he is following the guidelines of social distancing.

Some of Floyd’s coaching staff is wearing masks while others aren’t. While safety guidelines aren’t up to the very best, one can argue that it is extremely hard to comply with those norms in combat sports. Mayweather can, at least, undergo training owing to his facility and coaching staff. Most of the combat athletes around the world can’t boast of the same. Instead, they are forced to train in their home.

When Mayweather was doing his light bag work, someone brought up the name of his former opponent Conor McGregor. While the audio isn’t very clear, one can make out Mayweather saying, “He don’t want this.”

Mayweather vs McGregor seems to find a way to always come up regardless of the occasion. Even in times like these when a fight between the two is not on anyone’s minds. Much of it is attributed to Mayweather’s tactics for keeping his name relevant.

However, the year 2020 brought a series of bad news for him. In January, Mayweather was affected by the death of his close friend and future NBA Hall of Famer, Kobe Bryant. In March, the mother of three of his four children died under suspicious circumstances. And if this wasn’t enough, his uncle and former trainer, Roger Mayweather, passed away ten days later owing to diabetes complications. After all this, his daughter was taken in custody over the alleged stabbing of a woman.

Following the incidents, there were reports that Mayweather may drop his plans of returning to the ring in 2020. However, his latest work inside the gym may come as a glimmer of hope for people who want to see him back in action.
