Devin Haney’s father William Haney recalled the sparring session and revealed how Floyd Mayweather failed to dominate a 17-year-old Devin Haney when the two collided in sparring. It was before Mayweather’s return against Conor McGregor, and Mayweather sparred with several youngsters at his gym.

“He was in there with Floyd. Nobody wanna talk about it but it was right before the Conor McGregor fight, he was like 17 or 18 and Floyd couldn’t touch him. Listen, Floyd didn’t touch him and Devin touched Floyd up,” said William Haney.

However, WBC champion Haney didn’t see it as a competition. Instead, he looked at it as an opportunity and expressed his gratitude towards Mayweather for giving him the chance.

‘The Dream’ added, “For me personally, I just thank Floyd for even giving me the opportunity to say that I’ve been in the ring with him. Even though it was at the end of his career, just for me to be able to say I sparred Floyd. He didn’t have to do that. I was a young kid and he was somebody that I always looked up to and someone that I always watched.”
