Recently, WBA lightweight champion Gervonta Davis announced his retirement from the sport of boxing, suggesting he was tired of the sport and wanted to “be able to make money and stay out the way, that’s it. I want to be living without being seen.” In the meantime, Show Bizz The Adult has claimed that Davis is unsatisfied with the sport, and it’s not because of the money.

The 30-year-old is about to get in the ring against Lamont Roach on March 1st next year in Brooklyn, New York. And as per his claims, 2025 will be the last year people see him fight in the ring. Regardless, Show Bizz questions whether Davis’ lack of legacy is because of Floyd Mayweather

The YouTuber suggested that despite achieving the status of being the ‘face of boxing,’ he was unsatisfied because of a lack of big names in his pristine resume. In his recent rant, the YouTuber claimed, “Gervonta is still unsatisfied [because] Gervonta didn’t know that you can be the face of boxing without satisfying your legacy.”

Show Bizz suggests this was the reason behind Davis’ feud with his former mentor and promoter, Floyd Mayweather, who has faced criticism for cherry-picking opponents and fighting top boxers only after they were past their prime. “Gervonta looked up and then started beefing with Floyd. He looked up and was like, ‘I’m still hungry,’” Show Bizz said.

The YouTuber used Davis’ example to warn other boxers that money isn’t everything and claimed it won’t satisfy them. “This should prove to all of the fighters out there that money isn’t the bill, and it’s not F the fans, and it’s not get to the bag. You won’t be happy,” he said, noting, “There is a different reason why you got into boxing. Never forget the reason why.”

Meanwhile, a former world champion has shared their take on Davis’ upcoming fight.

Shawn Porter claims Gervonta Davis won’t surprise Lamont Roach

Shawn Porter believes Lamont Roach’s familiarity with Gervonta Davis will make their March 1 clash more competitive than expected. The fight emanating from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn will see Davis defend his WBA lightweight title against Roach, reigniting an old rivalry from their amateur days.

“The fact that Lamont Roach is as familiar with Tank Davis as he is, it goes beyond them fighting in the amateurs,” Porter told Fight Hub TV. “He’s been around Tank. He’s seen Tank up close and personal… That matters.”

Porter emphasized Roach’s prior experience with Davis’ speed and power, suggesting it could give him an edge. “Your first time seeing that kind of speed and… the overall makeup of a Tank Davis is surprising to most fighters. It won’t be surprising to Lamont Roach.” While Davis remains the favorite, Porter believes Roach could rise to the occasion if he withstands Davis’ power.

That being said, Show Bizz The Adult feels Gervonta Davis is unsatisfied with the sport of boxing not because of a lack of money, but rather, it’s because of a lack of legacy despite being called the face of boxing. Do you agree?
