On Saturday night, the WBC lightweight champ, Devin Haney, will take on his second fight of 2021 against Joseph Diaz. Here, Haney will look to defend his title once again successfully to advance his chances for an undisputed title fight ahead.

That said, this fight holds some weight to its name and everyone is keen to see how Haney tackles the veteran in Diaz. A lot of boxing biggies have already given their opinion on this fight, and recently ‘TBE’ Floyd Mayweather too gave his honest opinion on this bout.

Speaking to FightHype, he said, ”Wish them both nothing but the best. You know, Devin had a chance to work in our gym ever since he’s been a little, you know, a small kid. ‘Jo Jo’ Diaz. I think he just beat a guy didn’t he. They didn’t expect him to beat. So it should be a good matchup.”

Haney beat the seasoned veteran Jorge Linares in his last fight. He began the fight well and was in total control most of the time. However, in round 11 Linares struck him with a few good shots and was almost on the brink of knocking him out.

Yet, Haney showed composure, and he ended up winning this fight. On the other hand, Diaz got past Javier Fortuna to claim the WBC interim lightweight title. With this, ‘Jo Jo’ solidified his position, thus making sure to line himself up for a fight with the ultimate champ.
