Floyd Mayweather Labeled ‘A P***y’ for Not Fighting Amir Khan

The supersonic hands of Amir Khan have garnered several accolades for him. Undoubtedly, the former unified light-welterweight Amir Khan is one of the fastest-moving boxers of this generation. However, recalling his fight against undisputed super-middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez, he made a bold remark on boxing stalwart Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather.

Amir Khan accused Mayweather of acting like a ‘p***y’ and not accepting Khan as his opponent. He gave the reason behind moving two weight divisions and facing Canelo Alvarez in the middleweight division.

Khan said,” Mayweather was being a pu**y, Wouldn’t Fight Me, So I Agreed To Canelo.”

However, many pugilists have accused Money Mayweather of ducking them. Being in the same weight class, ‘Money’ preferred taking shots in the ‘Fight of the Century’ or ‘Battle for greatness’ against eight-division southpaw technician Manny Pacquiao. Though it was a close contest, Mayweather emerged as a superior boxer by unanimous decision.

After getting no response from team ‘Money’, Khan took the risk of taking a shot at middleweight against one of the biggest stars of boxing, Canelo Alvarez.

In the epic battle fought on 6 May 2016 in Las Vegas, the pound-for-pound king Canelo stepped inside the ring to defend his title against junior welterweight champion Amir Khan. ‘King’ Khan opened up his quick hands and fought extremely well for 5 rounds.

He dominated the early rounds with fast combinations and excellent footwork, winning all rounds. But the fight is not about being fast or throwing a lot of punches, it is about how lethally a fighter crafts them and lands them, hurting his opponent. The Mexican showcased the spirit of a champion.

After losing all five rounds, he never looked impatient, kept his guard up, and remained focused. Canelo tried to trap Khan in the corner but got no success and finally caught Khan in the sixth round.

He maintained his top speed with deadly power. He crafted the last few jabs with precision. And then the shocking right hand with left body feint on the ‘glassy’ chin seized Khan. Canelo showcased that even if the fight seems one-sided, a well-placed powerful punch can make all the difference in the world.
