The ex-five weight division champ Floyd Mayweather accomplished a near to impossible record in his professional boxing career. He stands tall among all those world champions, who brag about their phenomenal career figures. Whether talking about his in-ring numbers or the financial numbers; his 50-0 professional record had added a unique angle to his legacy. It billed him as ‘undefeated’ forever. But this didn’t mean that he never faced a loss in his entire boxing career.

Floyd Mayweather: Amateur career

From a family of professional boxers, Floyd Mayweather walked into the ring for the very first time as an amateur boxer in 1993. From the beginning bouts, the champ showcased that he has the upper hand in terms of speed and defense.

As an amateur, he battled for 90times in 3 years. Though he was very amazing, he could not finish his amateur career undefeated. He lost 6 bouts.

In amateur boxing, ‘The Pretty Boy’ garnered several accolades. He won the National Golden Gloves championship several times. Represented the USA in the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta and clinched a bronze medal.

Amateur Career losses

As aforementioned, ‘The Best Ever’ lost 6 times in his career. The most memorable one is his loss in the Olympics. After winning three fights in a row, ‘Money’ faced the Bulgarian pugilist Serafim Todorov in the semifinals.

The action-packed bout of 3-rounds was a close one. Judges scored it 9-10 in the favor of Todorov. This moment changed the life of the champ. It was the last defeat Mayweather faced as, after that; he turned pro.
