Curmel Moton, like his mentor Floyd Mayweather, is proving to be one of the most talked about fighters in the world. Despite having just three professional bouts under his belt, fans can’t seem to get enough of the 17-year-old. Less than a week ago, the ‘Big Deal’ Moton appeared in the ring against the biggest challenge of his pro career, Anthony Cuba

Having defeated his first two opponents in the very first round, Moton was expected to wrap up his third bout in a similar fashion. However, ‘2 Quick’ Cuba was no pushover, forcing Moton to go the distance, albeit he incurred a unanimous decision loss. Nevertheless, Moton with his third win seems ready to enter the ring again, as he dropped hints about his next fight on social media yesterday!

Curmel Moton is prepared for more rounds

Turning to X (formerly Twitter), the Utah native shared a training clip of himself, furiously hitting the pads with his training partner in the Mayweather gym in Las Vegas, Nevada. Meanwhile, the undefeated rising star captioned the tweet with “Fight date coming soon.” It was always pretty clear that Moton wanted to make a name for himself, but no one was expecting another fight this soon.

During the post fight interview, Moton said, “It was great. Big respect to Cuba. He’s a hell of a fighter. He was able to stand in there and trade with me and last all the rounds.” He also added, “I learned that I’m in shape. I can go even 12. I was still ready to go more rounds after eight.”

Perhaps, it’s this readiness from Moton, which compelled him to get in the ring so soon after his last fight. Meanwhile, Floyd Mayweather’s business partner revealed why Moton couldn’t get a title shot in his pro debut.

CEO of Mayweather Promotions is confident Moton could beat anyone

Curmel Moton made his pro debut last year in the undercard of Canelo Alavarez vs. Jermell Charlo against Ezequiel Flores and everyone knows what happened in that fight. However, originally, Floyd Mayweather wanted Moton to face someone else, a champion, to be exact. In the lead up to Moton’s debut, Mayweather called out Leigh Wood – the former featherweight champion.

However, Wood refused the challenge and proposed that Mayweather himself should get in the ring with him. So, when a reporter from Akhi TV probed Leonard Ellerbe about why the fight did not happen, Ellerbe said, “Well, I don’t think it was the matter of Wood turning it down. I think he wasn’t available.” Moreover, when asked about his thoughts on Moton’s capabilities, Ellerbe said, “Yeah, feel confident putting him in with anybody in his weight class, confident – confident – easy work.”

That being said, it looks like Curmel Moton seems unsatisfied with his last fight, so he is giving the fans another fight in quick succession to deliver another knockout. However, who he would fight next is currently unclear. Who do you think Moton would fight?
