Gervonta Davis just unveiled one of the best performances of his career as he knocked out Leo Santa Cruz in the sixth round of their main-event clash to become the WBA two-divisional champion. Although it was a sensational win for ‘Tank,’ he still had to fight his way through the contest.

Leo Santa Cruz pushed him to the corner multiple times and dominated the fight until he got slept by Davis. That said, Davis also consumed some heavy shots and displayed some major war marks on his face. While he registered the 24 victory of his professional career, people have already poised him against other contenders of the lightweight unit.

Davis has been touted to go against several champions like Devin Haney and Ryan Garcia in the past. Thus, the fight-talks are back in relevancy after his recent win over Santa Cruz.

Although nothing is official yet, fans and media analysts have enquired for some possible names from the WBA two-division champion himself. However, Davis doesn’t want to do that. For the timing, he wants to enjoy his win before getting to the fight mode again.

Gervonta Davis has no names in mind at this point

In the post-fight press conference, Floyd Mayweather accompanied Gervonta Davis and answered a bunch of questions. When asked about his next opponent, Mayweather appeared vexed and clarified that he doesn’t want to pull that off instantly.

Talking about it, he said, “We really want to enjoy this victory. Soon, a fight is over, the first ten seconds ‘Who do you wanna fight? Who do you wanna fight?’ ‘Tank’ is the top dog. ‘Tank’ is on pay-per-view for a reason. ‘Tank’ is where he is at for a reason.”

He added, “So we don’t wanna come up here and call different names, we wanna fight him, we wanna fight him, we don’t want to do that. What we wanna do is let him go home, enjoy himself, his daughter, his family, his team, and then we will talk about that. 20-30 days from now, but he should be able to enjoy his victory.”

Mayweather further expressed his love for Davis and said, “I am so, so proud of him. No matter what you know when Tank is sick when he has certain things in the media bout.

“Me and Tank, no matter what we are here. I am gonna always love him, unconditional. Same way I love my other two sons, and my two daughters. I love him the same way. I only want the best for him.”

Thus, Tank will take his time until he gears up for some in-ring action again. Meanwhile, Ryan Garcia and Luke Campbell will fight each other, putting some outline to the division ahead.

WBC lightweight champion Devin Haney will also put his title on the line against Gamboa. So, several lightweight thrillers are waiting for Gervonta Davis and the fans ahead.
