Floyd Mayweather Sounds Off on Ex-Promoter, Cautions Jose Zepeda

Floyd Mayweather, despite his retirement from the pro-boxing circuit, makes it to the news headlines effortlessly. He is one of the greatest boxing faces of this generation, who allured countless fans with his impeccable boxing prowess. Alongside that, something that pins Mayweather as the best of all time is the business acumen that he employed in the sport of boxing.

‘TBE’ became his own promoter to bank some stellar figures. Moreover, he often motivates boxing prodigies to do well in the sport and make the amount they deserve.

Recently, Mayweather crossed paths with Jose Zepeda, who’s an elite sensation competing in the super-lightweight frame. ‘Pretty Boy’ had a pleasant interaction with the WBC silver super-lightweight champ. But while the duo was leaving, Mayweather asked Zepeda if he was from Top Rank Promotions.

Zepeda responded with a yes, and Mayweather gave ‘Chon’ a cautious comment about the promotion and their pay factor.

Mayweather was a Top Rank fighter himself. But he was keen on promoting himself and making some outstanding paychecks. That said, Mayweather paid a hefty fee of $750,000 to part ways with Bob Arum’s Top Rank promotions. Back then, many criticized ‘TBE’ for this move, but no one knew what Mayweather had in his mind.

‘Pretty Boy’ is a firm believer in fighters getting substantial pay as they put in the maximum effort to make any boxing event attractive. That said, he went on with this thought, to eventually become the richest boxer on the planet.

It is also rumored that Mayweather banked over a billion dollars just by his boxing appearances.
