Floyd Mayweather Jr. is one of the most well-known faces in the world of boxing. The former champ is often seen at events and is often regarded as one of the most outgoing personalities in the sport. On the other hand, his father Floyd Mayweather Sr. is a lot more reserved and likes to keep a low profile. However, he was recently seen during a memorial boxing match for a late boxer.

Ali Tazeem was an 18-year-old boxing prospect from Wolverhampton, who had a promising professional career ahead of him. Moreover, he was even dubbed as the ‘next Amir Khan’. The young boxer was traveling in his Vauxhall Corsa on Merridale Road, during the early hours of April 17, 2022. The driver of the car lost control and hit a wall near the junction of Oaks Drive in Chapel Ash.

Tazeem tragically died on the scene. Meanwhile, the unnamed driver, also 18 years old, was taken to the hospital. However, he later succumbed to his injuries.

Tazeem had fought 51 times, losing just six of those bouts. And, he also won 15 international gold medals. It is worth noting that he had signed a professional contract with Probellum barely three weeks prior to his crash.

Meanwhile, the Heroes Education Centre held a memorial service for him. There was also a boxing match in his honor. And it was attended by many notable names including Mayweather Sr.

Mayweather Sr. had previously mentioned that he was impressed by Taseem’s performance during a mitt session.

Floyd Mayweather was not the only notable name who paid his respects

It is worth mentioning that Floyd Mayweather was not the only professional boxer who extended his support. Amir Khan took to Twitter to pay his respects to Tazeem and his family.

Khan mentioned that Tazeem was his friend ‘Tee’s son. He spent time with Tazeem’s family and also stated that his death was a major loss to the British Asian boxing community.
