At this point, former promoter and fighter duo Gervonta Davis and Floyd Mayweather have had several public feuds. Mayweather, who once was a mentor figure for Davis, has turned into a rival and a nemesis Davis can’t seem to shake. ‘Money’ Mayweather discovered ‘Tank’ Davis in 2015 and immediately signed him to Mayweather Promotions, his boxing promotional company.

The pair would later separate in 2022, with Davis announcing the news through social media. However, have you ever wondered what exactly pushed Davis over the edge? While appearing in a recent interview with ‘Mr Jay Hill Network,’ Davis finally revealed what went on behind the curtains, which led to his admiration for Mayweather turning into disdain.

During the interview, the host brought up Mayweather and the very public fallout that the pair have had. Davis explained that meeting his boxing idol turned into a letdown over the years they worked together. He also revealed Mayweather once left him in a situation, which led him to get evicted and he had to sell all his jewelry.

When asked whether Mayweather had done it on purpose, Davis described what actually happened between him and Mayweather. For sure, [Mayweather did that to me intentionally because] at that time, I don’t want to go too deep into it… They were saying I was messing with his daughter…,” Davis recalled.

“She kept Snapchatting, she kept hitting me on Snapchat. So, they sent it to Floyd and Floyd bugged out,” he added during the interview. However, per Davis, even this wasn’t the final nail in the coffin, instead, it was all the small things Mayweather did that actually ended their relationship. It wasn’t a downfall my [relationship with Floyd] cuz it was more things that he was doing… just little stuff that people wouldn’t catch.”

It’s unclear what ‘little stuff’ Davis is referring to, but Mayweather’s actions before Davis’ fight against Frank Martin might offer some clues.

Floyd Mayweather & Gervonta Davis clash over Mayweather’s Frank Martin fight claim

Back in June 2024, the feud between Floyd Mayweather and Gervonta Davis took a heated turn. Mayweather posted an image on social media suggesting Davis’ fight against Frank Martin was canceled, followed by a message urging fans to watch UFC Fight Night instead.

Davis fired back, calling Mayweather a “bitter b****” and later took aim at his former mentor’s business acumen. “If you sign with this fraud, he will f*** your career up. He is not a good businessman at all,” Davis wrote.

The rift began in 2023 when Davis claimed Mayweather barred him from training in his gym before his fight with Ryan Garcia. Their once-strong relationship turned into a war of words, with Davis even threatening to fight Mayweather.

Despite the long-drawn tension, Davis remains focused on facing Lamont Roach Jr. on March 1st in Brooklyn—a fight Mayweather will likely be watching closely, despite all the digs at his former protege. But the question is, what do you think about Davis’ claims?
