Former unified lightweight champion Teofimo Lopez had been away from the boxing ring for a while. He opted to increase his weight from 135 pounds to 140 pounds after losing all of his belts to George Kambosos Jr. Fans were disappointed with his recent encounter against Sandor Martin since they were hoping for a much more impressive performance from him. In the midst of this, he has been advised by his rival to take a break from the sport.

Upon beating Martin, Lopez reportedly began asking people if he still had it. Later, he admitted that he only asserted such to garner attention from the boxing community. Devin Haney, the undisputed lightweight champion, has a different take on this, though.
Haney believes, “Everybody knows that that’s cap (a lie). He’s questioning himself so I think he needs to take some time away from the sport, get his mind right, and come back.”

Kambosos Jr. faced Haney after obtaining the belts from Lopez. Haney showed his worth by winning both of their fights in a succession. Having once held the same belts as Lopez, Haney believes that Lopez needs a break from boxing since he is currently not in the correct frame of mind.
Teofimo Lopez’s opponent feels that he does not have what it takes at 140lbs
Lopez had stated that his goal is to become the undisputed champion of the 140-pound division. Fans thought Lopez gave a disappointing performance, though. However, he believes that his Spanish opponent was “running all the time,” which made it tough for him to demonstrate his boxing skills. But in the end, he was able to use his abilities to emerge victorious.

However, Martin stated recently, “Teofimo has a reputation as a bully, but it’s not just about who wants to abuse, it’s about who can. And on December 10 at Madison Square Garden, he couldn’t do anything at all.”

Lopez has rigorously outclassed his opponents since he started competing. The 25-year-old’s recent bout created the sense that he is not the same boxer who formerly dominated the lightweight division. Do you believe Haney’s remarks about Lopez? Is he really devastated after losing his belts? Post a comment and let us know.
