Messi stepped into the jam-packed stadium with his team to face legendary midfielder Luka Modric-led Croatian attack. It was not going to be an easy task because Croatia had displayed outstanding performance throughout the world cup. Their defense was the biggest challenge for Messi.
But the 35-year-old made it look easy. He proved why he is considered one of the greatest football players of all time. Messi inflicted a heartbreaking loss on Croatia. His contribution was the highlight of the night. It was his successful penalty fire and goal assistance that led Argentina to secure a 3-0 win over Croatia.
Following Argentina’s win, a journalist posted a video showing Messi’s out-of-the-world skills in the 68th minute of the match. He tagged Canelo on Twitter.
Highly impressed with Messi’s skills, the undisputed super-middleweight champion responded to it. He sent fire emojis.

What happened between Lionel Messi and Canelo Alvarez?
The tensions between Messi and Alvarez increased following Argentina’s 2-0 win over Mexico in Group C. The drama began with a misunderstanding that Messi kicked Mexico’s National team t-shirt while celebrating with his teammates in the dressing room.
Canelo took it as an offense because, according to him, Messi had disrespected his nation’s symbol. He took to Twitter and wrote, “Did you see Messi cleaning the floor with our shirt and flags???”
