Making it to the pinnacle in boxing is not an easy thing to do. It takes a lot of patience and ruthless dedication. This is what the former British champion Tony Bellew claimed when talking about the confident social media sensation Jake Paul. The latter is calling out some of the biggest names in boxing to go head-to-head with in the coming years. However, he did not get anyone noteworthy to go up against, yet.

Since the 25-year-old made it to the ring because of his popularity on the internet, his boxing skills are often underrated. Whatever path Paul chose, he finally got more than enough fame in the world of boxing. The loud-mouthed celebrity is often appreciated for promoting the sport, but his big claims did not sit well with established pugilists.

Talking about Paul’s trainer, who recently claimed to transform ‘The Problem Child’ into a force that will thrash champions in the light heavyweight class, appeared an exaggeration to the former WBC cruiserweight champion, Tony Bellew.

Though he believes Paul has the potential to rise, he did not want Paul to escape the reality of the sport. The 39-year-old himself strived hard throughout his life to become a champion. Therefore, he wanted to see the social media star go against Tommy Fury. This way Bellew would know the level Paul is at, as he believed that Fury has an experience in professional boxing.

What did Tony Bellew say about Jake Paul and Tommy Fury’s clash?

Ahead of the August 6 contest between two heated rivals at Madison square garden, Bellew said, “It’s looking like his next fight is Tommy Fury, and that’s a fight that can answer questions that have been posed regarding Jake Paul’s ability. Fury is not a world beater, but he’s been around the sport a long time and he has professional experience. He’s a live rival for Jake Paul and would represent a decent step up. After this fight, we’d know a lot more.”

Furthermore, he warned Paul. According to Bellew, it would be dangerous for ‘The Problem Child’ to lock horns with the best fighters in sport, as the consequences of this could be felt for a long time.
