The dust hasn’t even settled from the highly controversial fight between Francis Ngannou and Tyson Fury. Yet, the talks of a rematch between the two heavyweights have taken over the internet. During their last encounter, the ‘Predator’ Nagnnou put on an absolute show of boxing dominance. Surprisingly, the former UFC heavyweight champion knocked down the lineal WBC heavyweight champion in the third round of the epic clash.

However, that wasn’t enough to take home the win, as the ‘Gypsy King’ was crowned the victor, much to the dismay of the public. Nevertheless, Ngannou is back making the headlines, with claims of focusing on the rematch. What’s more, there are even talks of Ngannou taking on other mammoths of the heavyweight division. This includes names like Deontay Wilder and Anthony Joshua. Yet, the Cameroonian mixed martial artist’s single focus is on the Tyson Fury rematch.

Francis Ngannou is willing to wait

During the interview with TMZ Sports, the reporter asked Ngannou about whether or not he was interested in a possible fight with Anthony Joshua, as Eddie Hearn suggested. Ngannou, responding to the question, cleared the air by asserting that his focus, at the moment, is on a rematch with Tyson Fury. “It’s too soon…my most focus as boxing concern is the rematch with Tyson,” stated Ngannou.

When probed further about whether he is willing to wait until Fury is done fighting Oleksandr Usyk later next year in February, Ngannou seemed open to it. “I would be willing to wait…they are going to fight…they had a contract,” Ngannou told TMZ Sports.

What’s more, Ngannou went on to blame himself for the delay in Fury’s fight against Usyk. “They are going to fight in February, which is my fault…I shouldn’t hurt him,” said Ngannou mockingly.

Tyson Fury responds to Ngannou’s thank you post

Inside the ring, the two heavyweights might be rivals, but outside of the ring, they seem like close buddies. Recently, Nagnnou turned to X, thanking Fury for giving him the opportunity for his debut fight. “I really want to thank @tysonfury…while some were too worried about how they might look…and what others would say…Tyson stood up and accepted this fight,” wrote Ngannou.

Soon after Ngannou shared the heartfelt message on his Instagram account, Fury responded to the post, writing, “Gypsy king [shaking hands emoji] African king.” While both fighters have shown perfect sportsmanship during and after the fight, it would be interesting to see what happens in the rematch.
