Frank Warren’s Newest Signee Makes Massive Claims
Frank Warren and Queensberry Promotions recently announced the signing of former national amateur boxing champion, Umar Khan. The signing took place at a major event in London. Frank Warren is known for promoting one of the greatest boxers, Prince Naseem Hamed, and the current WBC heavyweight champion, Tyson Fury.
The 18-year-old British Umar is of Pakistani origin. He is also the cousin of WBO European junior-middleweight champion, Hamzah Sheeraz.
Umar won 28 of his 32 fights on his way to become a national amateur champion. His main objective, however, was to turn pro and follow the footsteps of his champion cousin.

“With Frank Warren, Hall of Fame promoter, he’s managed the careers of Tyson Fury, Naseem Hamed, Carl Frampton. So yeah, I’m just excited for the future, and at the end of the day my goal is to become a world champion, Inshallah. But also I’m trying to inspire the youth of today,” said Umar at the signing event.

On Khan’s signing, boxing promoter Frank Warren said, “Loads of potential and he’s gonna have an opportunity on one of the biggest platforms in the UK. So develop that potential, I’m sure he’ll get looked after. I don’t think the family can deny that we haven’t looked after Hamzah, which we have. Hamzah is on a great path and I’m sure Umar will follow.”

Umar comes from the town of Ilford and fights in the super bantamweight division. According to him, he started boxing at 13 and played football before that. He fell in love with boxing when his brother took him to the boxing club.
“I don’t want to sound cocky, but I think I had a natural ability for it from day one,” said Umar.

Khan seems to love the sport of boxing and looks focused and dedicated to his goal of becoming a champion. He has the right attitude and the ability, as is proved by his amateur record and his national title. However, only time will whether young Umar Khan will follow the footsteps and achieve the level of success of elder cousin Hamzah and become a world boxing champion.
