The Tyson Fury– Francis Ngannou clash is anything but settled. Weeks after their exhibition-esque fight, reports of their rematch have emerged. If the fight becomes concrete it would present Fury and Ngannou with the opportunity to redeem themselves. For Fury, it would be his chance to flip the flak he’s received for his disappointing performance that night. For Ngannou, it is a redo fight wherein he can secure the victory that most think was his.

Premised on the fact that Fury was the WBC heavyweight champion who had won over someone who’s never boxed before only through a split decision, the criticism questioned his acumen. Meanwhile, it also encouraged fans to declare that Ngannou was robbed of his victory. In an exciting new development, the ‘Gypsy King’s’ promoter, Frank Warren has hinted at the second edition of the Fury-Ngannou clash.

Tyson Fury vs. Francis Ngannou 2 on the horizon

In a conversation with sports journalist, Ariel Helwani, Warren said, “I think there’s a good chance of that happening. I really do. Would it be next? I don’t know. I mean you know, it’s like jumping sure too far for… let’s get the big one out the way first and uh and then we’ll see where we go. But I do think Tyson told me that he wants the rematch and I know Ngannou wants it.”

While Ngannou has a standing deal with the PFL for his next stint in the cage, Fury is slated to enter the ring against Oleksandr Usyk on the 17th of February, 2024. The Fury-Usyk clash comes after an entire year of negotiations between their teams after it reached roadblocks early this year. However, the relentless efforts of both parties have now finally ensured that the ultimate unification of heavyweight titles will take its course.

Warren has impressed the boxing world with his knack for getting lucrative fights like the Fury-Ngannu one on the road. Recently, he began working with one of his counterparts, and he says he’s enjoyed it so far.

Eddie Hearn on better terms with Queensberry

Eddie Hearn and Frank Warren have finally set their differences aside. They have collaborated on a massive event featuring the heavyweight icons Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder in Saudi Arabia on December 23. Hearn, the leader of Matchroom Boxing, expressed his enthusiasm after meeting Warren face-to-face for the first time at a recent news conference.

Reflecting on the encounter, Hearn shared, “It was a very simple exchange. I said we should forget the rubbish, that this is a big opportunity for Queensberry, Matchroom, for boxing, and our fighters, so let’s not mess it up.” The meeting seemed to pave the way for a newfound understanding between the rival promoters.

The forthcoming event in Riyadh will witness Joshua facing Otto Walin in his third bout this year. Wilder and Joseph Parker on the other will headline the co-main event. Hearn hinted at the significance of these matches, stating, “We are building towards Joshua and Wilder but both need to win on December 23.” In setting rivalry aside for a monumental event, Eddie Hearn and Frank Warren’s collaboration marks a promising shift, fostering unity for British boxing’s future growth and potential partnerships.
