Queensberry promotions chief, Frank Warren will be rooting for Anthony Joshua when he steps inside the ring against Kubrat Pulev to defend his unified heavyweight titles.

Although Warren’s top prodigy Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua are touted as rivals, the 68-year-old still wants his fellow Britisher to outpoint ‘The Cobra’.

That will validate a title unification fight between Joshua and the WBC champion Fury.

Warren believes Joshua will vanquish Pulev just as he reclaimed his lost titles against Andy Ruiz Jr. That said, he believes it will be a tactical showdown that will go on to the judges’ scorecard in favor of Joshua.

Well, that will further enhance the Brit’s KO-draught which began since his first encounter against Ruiz Jr. But Warren feels, AJ might not take an enormous risk in the fight and go ahead with ‘hit and save’ strategy.

Frank Warren unveiled his thoughts in a column for Daily Star. He wrote, “I believe we will see a repeat of the performance from him that he delivered against Ruiz Jnr in the rematch. And I say that as a big fan of Joshua, no matter what the preconception may be about that. He’s a British fighter so, of course, I want him to be successful–just not against Tyson Fury.”

Warren further added,  “I think we will see a similar performance to that against Kubrat Pulev tonight. Why? Because there is simply too much to lose for him if he suffered a shock second defeat in his career. That is because there is a huge clash with Fury waiting for next year.”

Anthony Joshua vs Tyson Fury- Is it the next fight to make?

As he envisions to plan a heavyweight thriller between ‘AJ’ and ‘The Gypsy King’, Warren is still concerned about Pulev’s prowess.

He knows the kind of threats the Bulgarian can bring. One bad shot and it can be over for Joshua. However, if Joshua lands the bigger one first, it will be hard for Pulev to regain himself in the contest.

So, Warren can possibly chalk out his plans for the fight against Fury. But only if both the fighters agree to the same.

The Promoter wrote, “For the fight to happen the two fighters must be happy and all those contracted to both men. If the two fighters really want it, then terms will get agreed and everyone else will fall in line. It is a heavyweight fight that has to happen. But first, we cannot rule out Pulev throwing a massive spanner in the works.”

As we walk closer to the main event, the heavyweight division will look for a change in its structure. If Pulev lands an upset, it will shatter all the ongoing plans.

Do you think ‘The Cobra’ dash out a dose of venom tonight and shock the boxing world?
