David Benavidez has been making headlines recently. His highly anticipated match with David Morrell in a few days is the talk of the town. And the intensity of the fight is clearly evident with Benavidez appearing in multiple interviews to promote the fight and lay some well-needed sh-t-talk on his opponent.

Just recently, he had been vocal about his frustrations with Canelo Alvarez, as well. Once a fight between Benavidez and Canelo Alvarez seemed inevitable when Benavidez was in the super middleweight division. How? Because the Mexican Monster was Canelo’s mandatory for his WBC Super Middleweight title. However, a series of issues—chief among them, Canelo Alvarez’s outrageous demands of $150-$200 million for the fight—ultimately led to the sanctioning bodies refusing to force a fight between the two.

In an explosive interview with the Miami Hustle on YouTube, Benavidez didn’t hold back his disdain for Canelo, describing him as a “fu—-g p–sy.” But as the focus shifts to his upcoming bout with Morrell, the focus is on the WBA (Regular) light-heavyweight champion.

Meanwhile, a video was recently shared on X, where David Benavidez was seen talking to boxing commentator Dan Canobbio. The topic? Benavidez’s lavish spending habits. The caption of his post read, “David Benavidez spends his money on houses and chains and sparring partners.”

According to the video, David Benavidez revealed that one of the first things he bought with his big paycheck was a $42,000 diamond Cuban link chain, purchased at the age of 20 after his first world title fight. However, the chain was just the beginning. Benavidez also shared that he went on to pay off a $1 million house in full, before splurging on a $2.1 million condo in Miami. And he wasn’t done yet; the boxer is already eyeing another home following this upcoming fight.

But what about his fight camps? Benavidez disclosed that the most he’s spent on preparing for a fight was a whopping $100,000. This wasn’t just on flashy trainers or luxury retreats—he explained that he invests heavily in sparring partners, housing for those partners, and various training expenses to ensure the best possible preparation. His lavish lifestyle, while impressive, doesn’t come without a price, and the money spent is a reflection of his dedication to the sport.

Despite all the talk about his financial success, there’s a darker edge to David Benavidez’s persona. In the lead-up to his fight with David Morrell, he stirred up even more controversy when he issued a chilling warning to his opponent.

Can Benavidez's bold words against Morrell backfire, or will he prove his dominance in the ring?

The WBC Interim Light Heavyweight Champion is preparing for a high-stakes showdown with Cuba’s David Morrell on February 1 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The fight, which will be streamed live on Amazon Prime Video, is quickly becoming one of the most anticipated boxing matches of the year.

Benavidez, who recently moved up to light heavyweight, secured a unanimous decision victory over Oleksandr Gvozdyk in June 2024 in his first fight at this weight class. On the other hand, Morrell captured the vacant WBA ‘Regular’ Light Heavyweight title by defeating Radivoje Kalajdzic on August 2024, at the BMO Stadium in Los Angeles, making him a worthy adversary.
