In 2021, there were many ecstatic boxing bouts that stunned the fight fraternity. On that exuberant list, the undisputed super-middleweight war between Canelo Alvarez and Caleb Plant holds a different place altogether. This fight was one of the most entertaining clashes of all time, and no one could have expected anything better in a fight of that magnitude.

The favorite, Canelo, won the fight flawlessly, by securing a T/KO win. However, Plant kept the p4p king on his toes. Also, Gary Russell Jr. believes Plant would have won the fight if he was in a 15-round boxing shape.

In a chat with Brian Custer, he said, “To be honest with you, I like Caleb, too. I like Caleb Plant. I was telling people that if he was in 15 round boxing shape, he was gonna, it was real possible he could have beat Canelo. If he wasn’t by the eight-round, Canelo’s gonna walk his a** down like Jason, and that’s what happened.”

On the other hand, ‘Sweethands’ kept his jabs to the play, using full ring space. However, it was in round 11, when Canelo struck him with a power-packed blow on his chin. Capitalizing on that, Alvarez dropped Plant twice in that round to finally turn the tables in his favor.
