Jake Paul has risen to prominence in boxing pretty rapidly. A big part of it can be attributed to his skills in the boxing ring, while the rest is definitely his ability to market his fights and create hype around them. Something that businessman, author, speaker, and internet personality Gary Vaynerchuk, aka Gary Vee, feels is a pure stroke of brilliance.

You see, the 27-year-old is about to enter the ring against legendary heavyweight champion Mike Tyson on August 24th at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Ahead of his highly anticipated cross-generational bout, Paul and Tyson came face to face for a press conference in New York earlier this month, where people loudly chanted “F**k Jake Paul” to show their disdain against the YouTube star-turned-boxer.

This seems to have become a topic of discussion during the latest episode of BS/w Jake Paul podcast. Reflecting on the presser and people looking at him like the bad guy, Paul said, “I was just in the press conference, 2000 people in there all like screaming, ‘F**k Jake Paul.’” Hearing this, Vee immediately interrupted the former Disney star, suggesting it was the result of Paul’s genius mindset.

He said, “That’s cause you are [a] f**king genius. You are the one [who] started the ‘F**k Jake Paul’ chant.” It’s worth mentioning that the chant has previously overflown the confines of boxing and has been heard at other events in the States as well—wherever Paul makes an appearance.

The best example would be what happened at the UFC 261. After defeating former UFC star Ben Askren in 2021, Paul got into a heated debate with Daniel Cormier during the UFC event, which saw him getting booed by the audience, as “F**k Jake Paul” chants broke out. Regardless, Gary Vee continued, suggesting Paul has a “self-deprecation” quality and “a level of humility” that most people ignore while praising the work Paul has done to get to where he is right now in the boxing realm.

Nonetheless, “F**k Jake Paul” wasn’t the highlight of the New York Press Conference. Instead, it was something Mike Tyson did.

Mike Tyson shoves Jake Paul

Mike Tyson and Jake Paul brought the drama to Fanatics Fest at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City with an entertaining press conference for their upcoming fight. Tyson didn’t hold back, giving Paul a playful shove and laughing throughout their face-off. As they squared up, Tyson delivered a light-hearted push to Paul’s chest, followed by a full-on shove, all while chuckling at his 27-year-old opponent’s reaction.

Paul, clearly annoyed by Tyson’s antics, pushed back, but Tyson’s jovial demeanor suggested he was enjoying the mind games. Despite their lighthearted banter, their actions suggest the rivalry is real, and Tyson’s recent medical emergency only added to the tension, giving Paul more time to prepare. With their bout scheduled for November 15, the playful shoves are just the beginning of what promises to be a heated showdown.

That said, no one can deny the marketing genius Jake Paul is. By becoming the bad guy, Paul has managed to rile up fans enough to make sure his November 15th fight against Mike Tyson becomes a hit. However, will his genius translates into a win when they finally get into the ring is still heavily debated. What do you think?
