Canelo Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin will face each other on September 17 to complete their much-anticipated trilogy fight. The pair have faced each other twice in the past with the first match ending in a draw and the Mexican taking the victory in the second match via split decision.

Moreover, things have become heated between the two leading up to the fight as Alvarez sounded off on Golovkin and even called him an ‘A**hole’ in the pre-fight press conference. It looks like Golovkin was having none of it as he responded to Alvarez’s comments in an interview.

Golovkin brands Alvarez

In an interview with FightHub TV a reporter asks Golovkin about his thoughts on Alvarez’s comments and whether this has any effect on him.

He asks,” He called you an A**hole, what did you make of that, does it like throw you off like what the heck where’s this coming from”. Golovkin then responded by stating that it might be the translator’s fault and also took shots at Alvarez and branded him saying, ” Well I did not react immediately to this because probably it was the interpreter’s fault, he smoted it down a little bit but what can I say now, that he’s just a, I don’t know A red mouse.

Although this looks like an attempt by the Mexican to generate more hype for the fight, Golovkin does not seem interested in these antics and wants to let his hands do the talking.

The rivalry between the two is currently one of the biggest in the sport and this will certainly be the final chapter. Although the Mexican has the upper hand in head-to-head matchups, he should not underestimate Golovkin, as many have felt that the Kazakh boxer won the first two fights. Moreover, Alvarez is coming into this fight after a loss against Dmitry Bivol who beat him in May.

On the other hand, Golovkin is coming into this fight with a knockout victory over Japanese boxer Ryota Murata, however, this will certainly not be an easy fight for him as he is 40 years 0ld now and is in the final stage of his career.
