In the lead-up to his much-anticipated fight against Ryan Garcia, Gervonta Davis channeled his ‘inner’ Floyd Mayweather Jr. Davis, who has been mentored by Mayweather Jr. since he turned professional in 2013, was seen waving a stack of cash at Garcia, mimicking Mayweather’s infamous ‘Money’ persona.

Mayweather Jr. is known for his extravagant lifestyle and loves to flaunt his wealth. During his career, he would often show off his luxurious cars, expensive jewelry, and wads of cash. He even gave himself the nickname ‘Money’ Mayweather as a nod to his lavish lifestyle. Now, it looks like Davis is following in the footsteps of Mayweather, getting into pre-fight shenanigans with his rival.

In the pre-fight press conference, Davis took a bag coating $100,000 in cash and flashed the money to Garcia, flaunting it. He was then called out by ‘KingRy’ who claimed that money was not everything to fight for. However, ‘Tank’ would then respond in a manner that was fitting to his mentor. “It’s prize fighting, stupid,” he said.

While Davis’ display of wealth was less extreme than Mayweather’s, it is clear that the influence of his mentor has rubbed off on him. The former five-division champ notoriously once showered chunks of money over former UFC champion Conor McGregor.

However, ‘The Notorious’ did not react to it as he was busy flaunting his lavish robe made of fur.
