WBA lightweight champion Gervonta Davis hasn’t stepped into the ring since his March 1 majority draw against Lamont Roach Jr. While many anticipated an immediate rematch, ‘Tank’ surprised fans by accepting Jake Paul’s challenge for an exhibition bout. Initially scheduled for November 14 in Georgia, the fight has since been moved to Miami after pushback from Georgia’s athletic commission, which refused to sign off on the bout because of the weight disparity.

Nonetheless, Davis’ size is still the focal point, as he found himself back in the spotlight—this time thanks to Golden Boy Promotions’ doubleheader tonight. The card features unified minimumweight champion Oscar Collazo and undisputed women’s flyweight champion Gabriela Fundora at Fantasy Springs Casino in Indio. Yet, it wasn’t just the matchups that drew attention. It was the pre-fight press conference that forced Gervonta Davis to make a confession.

Gervonta Davis’ comment shows deeper concern

Following the press conference, BOXING n BBQ shared a clip showing Oscar Collazo and Gabriela Fundora standing next to each other. The stark height difference between the two was impossible to miss, and the account made sure to point it out on X, writing: “That height difference is crazy. Make sure to tune into DAZN tomorrow night.” The post quickly drew reactions from fans, with one even retweeting it and asking, “Tf we going in here?”

At 5′ 5½″, Gervonta Davis clearly related to the moment. Collazo, who stands 5′ 2″, looked tiny next to the 5′ 9″ Fundora on heels—and Tank hilariously confessed he’d been there too. “Me: ma’am can you pretty please take them heels off next to me?” he joked in reply. The playful comment also underscored a serious point: size matters in boxing. Davis’ upcoming exhibition opponent, Jake Paul, is 6′ 1″—even taller than Fundora.

That height and reach disparity has already sparked concern, with former world champion Amir Khan voicing doubts about the matchup.

Amir Khan calls Davis vs. Jake Paul a complete mismatch

Former world champion Amir Khan has slammed the upcoming exhibition between Gervonta Davis and Jake Paul, as he branded it a dangerous mismatch. While Davis last fought in the lightweight division, ‘The Problem Child’ is coming off a cruiserweight bout against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., clearly the bigger man.

Speaking to SunSport, Khan didn’t hold back: “I mean, it is disgusting and you know, someone’s gonna end up getting hurt really badly in all this exhibition of boxing.” He praised His Excellency Turki Alalshikh for refusing to back such events, adding, “That’s why I respect Turki Alalshikh saying that he doesn’t want nothing to do with these YouTubers and these exhibition fights.”

Khan believes the size difference makes it unsafe. “It’s a mismatch, and I just hope someone’s not gonna end up getting hurt one day, that it’s gonna put boxing down.”

Regardless, despite understanding the size disadvantage he is in against Jake Paul, Gervonta Davis appears unfazed by the exhibition. But what did you think of Davis’ confession?
