It is clear that Davis does not seem to be in the mood to play games ahead of this fight. Meanwhile, the news about a ‘rehydration’ clause in their fight contract is making rounds online.

Gervonta Davis explains the reason for a rehydration clause in the contract

In the press conference leading up to the fight, it was revealed that there will be a rehydration clause for Garcia. This means that he cannot weigh more than 145 pounds during the fight. ‘Tank’ Davis also revealed the reason why he put this clause. According to him, this clause is to prevent ‘KingRy’ from coming in at a much larger weight than Davis.

Why would I not have a rehydration clause in there? So he can blow back up to 150, 160 around the time we fight? No. I’m not dumb. People want you to be a dumba*s. That’s not smart,” he said in an interview with ESNEWS.

Naturally, Davis is the smaller fighter stepping inside the ring on April 22. The two rising stars of the Lightweight division will meet this year after a long and tumultuous journey and settle the debate of who is the better boxer.
