WBA (Regular) lightweight titleholder, Gervonta Davis, is currently set to defend his title against Hector Garcia at the Capital One Arena, Washington, on January 7, 2023. Moreover, this fight is said to be a trailblazer for his highly anticipated April 2023 showdown against Ryan Garcia. However, these upcoming fights were overshadowed by the recent domestic violence allegations raised against him.

Davis was arrested on December 28, 2022, after a frantic 911 call was made accusing him of the same. Meanwhile, his chef, Elliot Buckling, recently took to social media to extend his support to ‘Tank’. On the other, the allegations might have jeopardized his fight in January.

In a tweet, Buckling expressed his confusion regarding the call. He said, “I stood right there when this call was made. The scene doesn’t match the call.”

Another individual also pointed out that the individual was calm and collected until the dispatcher picked up the call.

Davis, on the other hand, also denied the allegations. He took to Instagram to clear his side of the story. And, also shared a series of images to support his claims against his accuser, who is also his daughter’s mother. Talking about the same, he said, “I never put my hands on my child mother or my daughter. I’m not a monster, I’ve been quiet too long.”

He further added, “I don’t have a media team, public relations, or a good lawyer. That’s the only reason I’m doing this now! Just to clear my name.”

Gervonta Davis does not wish to fight

It seems like the issue and the drama revolving around the allegations took a toll on ‘Tank’ Davis. And the same may have also affected his upcoming fight.
