WBA regular lightweight champion Gervonta Davis is set to defend his title against Hector Luis Garcia on January 7. The bout is a tune-up fight before Tank takes on his long-time rival Ryan Garcia which is scheduled to take place in April 2023. However, Davis first needs to beat the WBA super featherweight champion if he looks to move on to fight ‘KingRy’.

‘Tank’ first won his title in 2019 after beating Yuriorkis Gamboa. Following this, he beat Leo Santa Cruz in October 2020 via knockout, winning the WBA super featherweight title in the process. Davis has defended his title against Isaac Cruz and Rolando Romero in 2022 and will look to do so against Luis Garcia as well. Gervonta Davis vs. Hector Luis Garcia: salary and fight purses

According to Sports Payouts, Davis will bag in a guaranteed $1.5 million and also have a 60% split in the PPV revenue. Garcia on the other hand will earn a guaranteed purse of $350,0000 with a 40% revenue share. If the fight sells over 500,000 buys, Davis could rake in an additional $4 million more making his total to $5.5 million. Moreover, Garcia could take home $1.5 million, including his PPV buys.

The base salary of this fight is less than what he made against Romero which was around $2 million with an additional $3 million in PPV revenue. Romero made about $500,000 and $1 million from his PPV revenue after a 60/40 split. However, in Davis’ fight against Isaac Cruz, he earned just $1 million with a 50% revenue share.

Both fighters will earn some good money for this match-up. However, it will pale in comparison to what Davis will earn against Ryan Garcia but first, he has to beat his tune-up opponent which many feel he will.
