Canelo Alvarez seized the old rivalry with Gennady Golovkin by winning the trilogy at T-Mobile Arena this weekend. The champ made the contest one-sided, which was expected to be close and competitive. Until now, the boxing world was celebrating the victory of the former pound-for-pound. But now, social media is witnessing some bold tweets from Canelo’s rivals. The first one on the list is his former promoter and multiple weight class champ Oscar De La Hoya.

‘The Golden Boy’ took to Twitter and unleashed himself in the form of words. According to him, people are scared of reflecting on what he saw in the fight.

He wrote, “The truth is everyone is afraid of speaking the truth. The fight was a f**ken dud. GGG was old a*s f*ck and canelo can’t hold Hopkins jockstrap.#”

This is De La Hoya’s opinion, who shares a rivalry with Canelo. Golovkin was past his prime to pull the odds against Canelo, who is battling in his prime years with a beautiful command over his boxing. His hand speed was unmatchable for the 40-year-old legend.

According to reports, the Mexican superstar left Golden Boy Promotions and filed a lawsuit against De La Hoya and his broadcast partner DAZN for breach of contract.

Canelo signed it. According to the contract, Canelo had to fight 11 bouts, and he was most likely to get $365million in return. In 2019, the contract became a subject of bitterness between Alvarez and De La Hoya. Later, Canelo left the promotion.
