Glenn McCrory Sends a Stern Message to Mike Tyson

Former IBF Cruiserweight champion, Glenn McCrory has got adventurous with his latest call-out. The retired boxer is clearly going for the big fish if he has to make a comeback to the sport. He has now given a message to legendary boxer Mike Tyson.

McCrory is one of the many retired boxers who is supposedly coming out of retirement to fight. The former champion has been training for a while and has offered to fight Evander Holyfield. However, now things seem to be a lot more serious than before.

On Christmas day, Roy Jones Jr posted a video on his social media calling McCrory out for a fight. Since then, McCrory has responded to Jones but taken it a step further with his tweet.

McCrory tweeted, “Tell mike Tyson he’s next ….” 

Tyson fought Jones Jr in his comeback fight, and both fighters earned a lot of respect as well as money for their comeback event. However, it seems that the Englishman now wants a crack at both.

Why are retired fighters like Glenn McCrory coming out of retirement?

McCrory is not the only fighter who is thinking of making a comeback. Evander Holyfield and Oscar De La Hoya have also expressed their desire to fight again.

The reason behind these bocxers wanting to make a comeback is fairly simple. Mike Tyson’s exhibition fight against Roy Jones Jr was extremely successful and earned a lot of money. Furthermore, Tyson has started the Legends Only League, which gives fighters an incentive to compete.

Therefore, when you consider the fact that these are men who love to train and fight, it’s a no-brainer. They are getting paid to do something they love doing, while the expectation and pressure is not as high as it was in their primes.

However, it does not paint a good picture for the sport of boxing. Either way, it seems as though this trend of new fighters returning will continue for now.
