Former WBO super middleweight champion Billy Joe Saunders has come before the fans to explain his situation, after the maiden loss to the P4P king Canelo Alvarez on May 8. 30-1 as a professional, Saunders is still a legitimate threat to the 168 lbs contenders. Meanwhile, Canelo Alvarez and Caleb Plant can settle the dust for the unified super middleweight championship. Once it’s over, the unified titlist can aim for new contenders. Thus Saunders can still expect a title shot in the near future. But he might have to go for a non-title bout to remain active and heal up the recent loss.
