“Got to Pay Homage to the GOATS”- Anthony Joshua Sends a Message to Mike Tyson and Floyd Mayweather

WBO, WBA, IBO, and IBF heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua praised boxing legends, Mike Tyson and Floyd Mayweather on his Instagram.

Anthony Joshua is one of the best boxers in the world. The Londoner has wins over elite competitors in the sport. Time and again, he has proved that he can overcome any hurdle thrown at him.

Joshua lost his titles in June 2019 against Andy Ruiz Jr. However, just a few months later, he faced off against Ruiz in a rematch and won his belts back. Similarly, in 2017, he overcame a tough opponent in Wladimir Klitschko.

So who inspires Anthony Joshua to keep going?

Recently, Joshua revealed the names of two men that paved the way for him and many like him.

“Gotta pay homage to the goats that paved the way for us,” Joshua said on his Instagram.

Anthony Joshua pays homage to Floyd Mayweather

Floyd Mayweather is known as one of the greatest defensive boxers to ever compete in the sport. ‘Money’ retired with a perfect record of 50-0. In his last pro match, Mayweather defeated Conor McGregor to secure a huge paycheck.

“ ‘Hard work, dedication’. Money May” Joshua wrote.

Following his win over Wladimir Klitschko, Mayweather praised Joshua for his performance. Besides that, he also gave him some valuable lessons.

Joshua praises Mike Tyson

During his prime, Mike Tyson was a ferocious boxer. Known for his power, Tyson knocked out his opponents into another dimension. Tyson retired in 2005 with an incredible record of 50-6-0, 2NC.

Joshua and Tyson have somewhat of a similar style. Both men prefer to knock their opponents out. On his Instagram, Joshua quoted the famous lines of Cus D’Amato (Tyson’s coach).

“A boy comes to me with a spark of interest, I feed the spark and it becomes a flame. I feed the flame and it becomes a fire. I feed the fire and it becomes a roaring blaze.”

Tyson appreciated Joshua in the past. He referred to Joshua as a breath of fresh air and called him a clean fighter with good punches.
