Muhammad Ali inspired people beyond the realm of sport. He became a heavyweight champion at a young age of 22. However, whenever he stood his ground, he received criticism. Yet, he had the belief in him to prolong the fight for his causes. Even years after his demise, the boxing world has not forgotten his profound impact— not just on the sport but on the culture at large.

Fans taken back by Muhammad Ali’s poem on friendship

Ali, in his off-time, used to write poems. In one of his poems, he reflected upon the importance of friendship and what makes one a good friend. According to the, ‘Greatest,’ a friend is an individual who is willing to take a bullet. And that friendship must be unconditional. When he recited his poem, he stated, “Friendship is a priceless gift, that cannot be bought or sold but its value is far greater than a mountain made of gold. For gold is cold and lifeless it can neither be seen nor heard. In times of trouble, it is powerless to cheer. Gold has no ears to listen to. No heart to understand. It cannot bring you comfort or reach out a helping hand. So when you ask god for a gift be thankful if he sends it.”

One fan recalled about the time he had a great friend and described him. The fan stated, ” i know that guy …. one sunny afternoon i got to hang out with him for like 15 min …HE was so damn cool it was a few years after this clip …. he was VERY WARM just like this and he had a HEART OF GOLD ……”

Moreover, one fan was left upset by the fact that Ali did not have many friends in his life. He stated, “Can’t believe he felt he didn’t have any friends. Very sad if true.”

Last but not least, one fan appreciated Ali for his honesty. He stated, “True Man”
