Teofimo Lopez and Gervonta Davis have got high praise showered on them by a former world champion. Hall of Famer Christy Martin made a huge claim about the lightweights. She even detailed what makes them excellent fighters.
Lopez and Davis are both champions in the lightweight division. And despite not fighting in the lightweight division herself, Martin said those two remind her of herself during her fighting days. She even explained her choices.

Speaking on ‘The Last Stand’ podcast, the famous boxer offered her picks for the fighters who remind her of herself. She said, “Oh, Teofimo in some ways, because we both like to talk shit, and we both walk, you know, walk the walk, we talk the talk, all that stuff.”
Speaking about Gervonta Davis, the former boxer said, “And Tank. I mean Tank can punch and that’s why you get in trouble, you know. I felt like I always had that punch. And we’re short and stocky and stout, so those two guys.”
These comments not only showed who Martin thinks resembles herself the most, but it also shows her two picks for the most exciting lightweight division.

Who is Christy Martin?
Martin will make the headlines for mentioning Lopez and Davis who are the stars of today. However, the American boxer was nothing short of a superstar back in her day. She is a former WBC women’s super-welterweight champion.
She ended her professional career with a record of 49-7-3. Moreover, she has fought the likes of Laila Ali and UFC star Holly Holm.
Such was Martin’s talent that Don King even put her on the undercard of Mike Tyson’s fights. Therefore, she was truly a superstar in the women’s game.
Thus, for Lopez and Davis, this should be a tremendous honor. Both fighters are young and confident in their abilities.
Furthermore, they seem to be on a collision course to face each other. However, one thing that they share in common is being similar to Christy Martin.
