Top Rank CEO Bob Arum is not impressed with WBC lightweight champion Devin Haney and doesn’t bill him anywhere close to Teofimo Lopez, in terms of achievements. The 88-year-old claimed that Haney hasn’t proven himself to be a tough-champion. He accused him of opting for easy opponents in the professional ride.

‘The Dream’ is still fresh from his recent title defense via unanimous decision against Yuriorkis Gamboa but hasn’t received many appraisals for that. Instead, the boxing community has lashed at Devin Haney for failing to stop his 38-year-old Cuban adversary. Although Haney put a clinical beat down, several pundits have belittled his efforts and Bob Arum is one of them.

As per Arum, no one “cares” about ‘The Dream’ before he proves his worth against a “decent” opponent. That said, the veteran boxing promoter doesn’t consider any of Haney’s opponents as legitimate.
Bob Arum KNOCKS OUT Devin Haney with words
‘Bob father’ connected with Fight Hype.com to throw light on several scenarios of the boxing community. He provided his opinion on the entire lightweight unit and touched upon Devin Haney throughout. He didn’t want to put him on the same scale as Lopez, as he doesn’t see the fight bringing profits.
Arum said, “No because Haney has gotta prove himself. It’s all bulls**. You look at the fighting all the things are about Devin Haney, who cares? Let him fight somebody real and then you can match him with Teofimo Lopez. Or, Haney-Teofimo Lopez is not a fight that’s gonna generate revenue.”
Arum added, “At this point, I don’t know how good he is gonna be, how good he is. I am telling he has to prove himself. If Garcia, again he hasn’t proven himself. If he beats Campbell, he proves himself. I am sure that the Haney people are resourceful enough that they will get a decent opponent. That will prove that Haney belongs. Beating, Gamboa at this point proves nothing.”

The whole lightweight unit is filled with unbeaten world champions. Apart from Devin Haney and Teofimo Lopez, Ryan Garcia (WBC super lightweight) and Gervonta Davis (WBA lightweight/WBA super featherweight) are also undisputed world champions. The stats will shake and undefeated streaks will vanish when these inevitable collisions take place.
